Wageningen is a municipality in the middle of the Netherlands and Gelderland. The city has a long history that goes back at least to the Romans. On June 12, 1263, Wageningen received city rights from Count Otto II of Gelre. A visit to the pleasant city center with many beautiful historical sights is certainly worthwhile. Today, Wageningen is best known for its University and the Maritime Research Institute Netherlands (MARIN). Wageningen is located where the Veluwe, Utrechtse Heuvelrug, Gelderse Vallei and Betuwe come together. These beautiful regions guarantee variety and beauty. The Wageningse Berg with its many forest / hiking trails is part of the Veluwe and this is a beautiful place to walk around or have a picnic. Also visit the recently renovated old football station "De Wageningse Berg", where professional football was played until 1992. There is a beautiful park nearby (the botanical gardens). On the edge of it you can enjoy a beautiful view over the Betuwe (located on the other side of the (lower) rhine.) Via the pond 'Het Lexkesveer' you can visit the Betuwe in a moment. Your holiday home is located in a versatile area that you must see and taste!
The motorways A 12, A 15 and A 50 are reached within 15 minutes from the holiday home. Due to the central location of Wageningen, you are in the foreseeable future in Arnhem, Nijmegen, Utrecht, Eindhoven, Rotterdam or Amsterdam. If you use public transport, Ede-Wageningen station is the center of your entertainment options. The train journey to Utrecht, Arnhem or Nijmegen takes about half an hour. The journey to Ede-Wageningen Station can be undertaken by bicycle (approximately 25 minutes), by car (approximately 15 minutes) or by bus (to Ede station and on return get off at the 'De Buissteeg' stop). And of course you can also enjoy hiking in the beautiful surroundings.
